Recently Michael and I had a short (and much needed) getaway. As this was a break away I didn’t want to turn my trip into a blog but I did on very few occasions manage to get a quick (what I wore) shot. I also took a couple of flat lays when I got home of some key items that I had recently purchased to pull together some of my outfits. As I was packing I made a list of what I took (see below) and I wore everything except 2 x sun cover ups (I opt for my lace top & skirt mostly over my swimwear), an espadrille with a heel (due to my back), white jeans (with my sore back and dining a lot I have to admit I opt for my looser fit clothing more often) and 1 x dinner dress (as I wore pants one night).
Our cruise was 8 nights and unfortunately the second last night my back wasn’t good so didn’t come home as refreshed as we should have but all the same it was an amazing escape from the everyday and a total pamper and spoiling.
I don’t get any commission or discounts from this at all but I believe thanks where thanks is due and I wish to say a big thank you to Larissa and her team at Cruiseabout Erina for organising everything for us. Cruising isn’t the only way we like to travel but boy it was perfect and ticked all the boxes for what Michael and I needed right now!
Some Looks & My Packing List
1 & 2: Dinner outfit with our VC tassel earrings & a beautiful wrap Michael bought for me in America.
3: Another dinner outfit with a new season Valley Girl off the shoulder top.
1: A quick improvise when we decided to go to a “Mad Hatter’s” high tea one day. I put the flower crown from my Mexican outfit around my floppy sun hat! Unfortunately our beautiful new sun hats arrived while I was away, this one is from last season and ready for an update – has been very loved and did the job nicely for this trip but time to be recycled as my “gardening hat” now.
2 & 3: Formal Night & out came my Christina’s Closet lace dress but this time I softened it with rose gold Betts heels and our rose gold Olga Berg clutch and our rose gold & crystal earrings. A twist on the pink and red colour trend that is so in at the moment.
1: Now it is highly unlikely you will see pics of me in a swimsuit or underwear on social media (remember we don’t get paid to post our pics!) – just trust me when I say I have cellulite, bumps and lumps too! But that doesn’t mean I don’t embrace a cossie and enjoy summer. My most recent swimwear purchase is from Target (navy spot 2 piece) and I LOVE it…the pants cover just what I want them too without being completely on my waist which is perfect for my shorter torso. Girls when you know your body balance and shape swimwear shopping is so much easier.
2 & 3: Floral maxi from Valley Girl $25 & kimono from TEMT $15 all this season. Accessories available at our VC Style Studio. The reason I love to shop at the “cheaper” younger stores is they are always so on trend. Yes, some of the fabrics aren’t great quality but that is to be expected for the price. As long as I get my wear from them each season then I consider them good value therefore, I don’t expect them to be long term stayers in my closet but funny enough they often are!
1: What I wore day 1 except I changed my earrings after this pic was taken.
2: Earrings, shoes, lace top (was a long swim cover up but I loved it so much I cut it off into a top so I could wear it with my pants, skirts and shorts), a scarf/wrap embellished with sequins and metallic thread (the one Michael bought for me)
3: This is me on Mexican Theme night. I wore a past season maxi dress & my sequin shawl with our new red tassel earrings and a head piece Jordi made for her Dad’s 50th Mexican party last year! I did my own makeup and used my makeup artist skills to create exaggerated winged eye liner and a flawless foundation. So handy knowing how to do your own makeup, I thoroughly recommend learning how to “makeover” your own face…you never know when a glamour or fancy dress makeup may be required! Beauty Tip: I had my nails “Shellac’d” before I left so I didn’t have to worry about painting them however I always travel with a manicure kit (just incase) and I LOVE this matching set that we have at the Style Studio (because it matches and is good quality). Jewellery wrap and manicure kit $59.95.
Now as you can see I didn’t pack light but I did pack well and everything co -ordinated and was in colours that could work together making dressing easy.
This pre planning and wardrobe organisation allowed me to enjoy my break and not worry about “what will I wear” even when surprise things like a long lunch, high tea and cocktail class with new found friends arose.
