It hasn’t been a really warm Spring here on The Central Coast of NSW so you will find this “What We Wore” includes light layering ideas and the new season pant shape – culottes! Hope you enjoy our “real life” looks and tips!
Lots Of Layers : Ready for a day in the studio wearing our new ultra long leather & coin neck wrap, leather & crystal wrist wrap and wooden earrings. #lovelylayers I also knotted the front of my maxi skirt to give it a different look and to create shape to my lower body since I was wearing such a full sleeved top.
Relaxed Styling : For a “me” day; physio, hair (this pic before hair done) then errands & time with my Mum.
Wearing; new Valleygirl off shoulder top, old Sussan linen pants, comfy MYER loafers & our tassel earrings (sold out – but new styles arrived) & our “just arrived” ethically sourced, hand made raffia tote.
Lace Layers : Sparkly flats, VC Style Studio back pack $99.95, leaf earrings $34.95, OS lace jkt (gift from Jordi) & past season ZARA pants keeping me modern for a Style/Shop session at Westfield Kotara then an outfit change for 2 x Diana Ferrari Style Sessions!
Floral Pant Suit : Be sure that your wardrobe has some print pieces! They may not be your daily “go to” pieces but having items in a print will give your outfit life and create some interest. Psst… only buy a print if it makes you SMILE!
Un-Even Skirts : Are huge this season however, if your legs are not your “focal point” opt for a maxi skirt that is shorter in the front and longer in the back.
Statement Bag : A great way to update your monochrome this season is with a bohemian inspired bag. I am wearing one from the VC Style Studio and it is only $69.95.
Relaxed Corporate : Dressed up my Kmart culottes with a lace Diana Ferrari cami, Witchery (old) linen jacket and our Navy tassel earrings for a Branding session at our studio with a very established Central Coast, Real Estate business. As I need flats (back still repairing) I decided to give my culottes a “Hampton’s” feel with white leather loafers.
Sunday Style : Taking it easy after a huge work week with our VC Style Studio new cane bag $59.95, Target Australia skirt $19 & H&M top…cheap and cheerful plus VERY minimal makeup doing our “5 minute make over” for a visit to Avoca Beachside Markets and then to do groceries.
All About The Skirt : I never feel overly confident showing my legs (not my best feature) hence, shorter hems are a rarity in my wardrobe but on a recent shopping trip with Jordi we found this H&M skirt and I love it. The perfect length for me (hides my knees!). Amazing what you can find when you look for what truly suits you and you avoid the rest.
Colourful Saturday’s : Colourful, relaxed Saturday Style for a day in the studio followed by a 2hr session with a client this afternoon. TIP : when wearing colour never wear more than three colours at a time – you can opt for a fourth colour if it tones with your outfit or matches a print piece (featured above)
Stripe Culotte : Erratic weather conditions had me layering my anorak over one of this season’s MUST HAVES – aka The Culotte. Culottes are a great alternative to jeans and create a more dressy casual look to an outfit.
White Shirt Style Tip : Don’t save your “corporate” shirts just for work. These days a lot of shirts have intricate detailing and can be worn open over casual attire to create a quirky look. Think outside the box and get creative!
Tie Front : Excited to have our ethically handmade “Made In Mada” collection of totes, bags, hats and clutches arrive at the studio. This denim on denim culotte and tie front top is another bargain find from Kmart – they are so on the mark this season and some of the pieces are quite good quality, especially for the price. Still having to keep my heels low I found these nude mules at Betts – leather and reduced to $50. Love sharing a bargain and it is our job to know where to find them! TIP: When wearing tie front items be sure to tie them in your most flattering spot. For example if you have a straighter torso (not much waist) sometimes tying your pieces to the side will create a flattering angle to your frame.
Melbourne Cup : Melbourne Cup Day In A Maxi!
No high heels for me today so I opt for a split front maxi by Next teamed with VibrantConcepts Style Studio accessories and head piece to MC an event at Wyong Race Club – giddyup! TIP: If the red and pink trend is too much for you try wearing soft pink (like I did) with your red. It isn’t so overpowering and the two shades really compliment each other.

Skirt Styling At Any Age
The secret to wearing a skirt successfully is to opt for a shape and length that is flattering to your body balance, reflects your personal style and will work back with at least 3 items in your closet.
